The New York City Triathlon is an incredible bucket list race that allows you to watch some of the fastest pros in the world go head to head before taking on the course yourself. With a supportive current on the swim, one spectator once noted that a bag of Cheetos made it through the swim course in under 18 minutes :) . Tulsa is NOT flat... ! The rollers on the bike in this area + the heat will challenge most long course racers as they ride through the Ossage Hills. The run leaves Oklahoma State University’s Tulsa campus and make its way through historic vibrant downtown Tulsa to the River Parks Trail System. Runners will have flat and fast views of the Arkansas River as they make their way down past Tulsa’s Gathering Place and back to downtown to finish at the beautiful Guthrie Green. Formerly Rev3 Virginia, this Ironman event will feature similar course and dynamics to the Rev event. The Chickahominy river is with the current and gets athletes out and onto the bike in a faster than usual time. We designed your course specific sessions (customized to your ability) to feature bricks that take you riding sustained uphill efforts in the aerobars similar to what you will see in Charles County. Going big in the BIG easy! We prepare our athlete with a plan that introduces course specific intervals for your ability to ride a flat and fast course. We have specific long ride prep for the two loop bike course that forces you to pace early and be able to unload onto the run and down "stars & Stripes BLVD."! Total training stress we will be crafted for you individual goals whether your first New Orleans 70.3 or hunting for a worlds podium spot. A quick swim and quick bike but you will have some conditions to contend with. HOT and windy.. still the flat course does lend itself to faster times if you are well prepared. Our Tristar plan features key bike and run sessions designed to simulate the Cozumel course conditions and demands. Plenty of bike climbing and technical descents will challenge athletes on the course. How you pace your day and these hills will dictate what happens on the run. Athletes will want to follow the key mid week Tristar training plan session bricks that simulate the "Pemberton flats" so as not to blow up your run legs. A very underrated Ironman that is one of our favorite courses as coaches here at Tristar Athletes. The hills keep coming on the bike and can really slow even the strongest of Ironmen and Ironwoman. This Tristar plan calls for vertical elevation training specific to this course with sessions that take you at and beyond the TSS required to ride well on this course. All sessions sync with your devices so you can learn to pace both the bike and run well. A great course for first time athletes and a flat and fast bike across the dam ensures a quick day. The lake swim is beautiful with a looped run within the Santa Fe Recreation area. Our Tristar training plan calls for our heat training protocol as part of the final six weeks leading up to the event and includes some hard runs off the bike into the hills to set up your best ever on this course. ”
