What do you like most about your training plan?: I like that my training plan has been customized to where I am in each of the three disciplines and my goals.
Why did you chose to work with Team Tristar Athletes: I liked that data was used to determine training plan but that coaches were flexible and listened and worked with athletes to fit training to their lives. I also wanted Megan Tobin to coach me.
What was the best part of your coaching experience?: The relationship that I had with my coach, Megan Tobin, and how she listened to me and encouraged me throughout the process of training for IM Cozumel was the best part! She was able to explain to me what the numbers meant in Training Peaks, how the workouts built upon one another and why training included some work outs and not others. When I was injured, (not from training but from bike accident) Megan adjusted my training and continued to reassure me that I would be ready and to trust the training and my body. Not only did Megan send me a written race day plan, we discussed it in detail and for as long as I needed to feel comfortable, we talked about travel arrangements, what to pack, acclimating to the heat etc. I could talk to Megan about anything and not feel silly for asking. Most importantly she believed in me and gave me the confidence to believe that I could finish the Ironman and in my goal times-which I did!
If you were to recommend Tristar Athletes to a friend, what would you tell them?!: I would tell them that my coach Megan was awesome, that there are a wealth of written resources available on our own FB page about nutrition, all three disciplines, heart rate training, swim technique etc. I would also tell them that training camp is great and finally that TriStar atheletes are inspiring and fun.
