BIKE
Lots of vertical riding taking you up Via Delmonte through the neighborhoods before dropping you back down to the ocean bluffs before heading up PV again via Hawthorne Rd. Once at the top of PV a quick refuel at the water stop at the Del Cero Park overlook before continuing down Crenshaw Blvd to the final climb of the day VIA MIRLO! Via Mirlo drops you into Valmonte Neighborhoods and the “tree section” before heading back to the beach. Join our tristar coaches and team riding this gorgeous and challenging course.
Ride around the golf course in PV and head half way up Silver Spur Rd before making a right turn on to Montemalaga Dr. From here break taking views of Catalina as you roll along up and down PV with sweeping turns and modest climbs. From there the ride takes you down to PV drive West heading towards the Radar domes before looping back to the beach areas.
The hawthorn climb is one of the longest in Palos Verdes with views of Terranea and Trump golf course from the top. This course will be broken up with flatter sections between major climbs. There are several stops along the way and a refueling opportunity for water and food at the bottom of Hawthorne as well as at the top.
Long extended hilly course riding up via del monte heading towards Del Cero Park. Total distance is 20 miles with one long extended climb. There is an option to repeat the loop for ~38mi total ride distance. Refuel option for food and drinks at Trader Joes on Hawthorne BLVD. (~90min to 2.5hr ride)
Run
Run to South high for a 1mi timed time trial. An easy run to the track before hitting one hard mile at the track and then heading back to the beach. Have questions? Contact our coaches here or see you on our next run!
Our favorite Tristar run from SMOG! This long run starts from the beach and works up the dirt trails of Palos Verdes Estates, crests above Bluff coved before heading down to a flat run to Nelsons. The early part of the run may include some walking of steeper dirt path sections. The goal is to run to Nelson’s for lunch and Uber back. Total run is ~8-9miles.
This run has three distance options for you to chose from. Go 5K, 10K and 13.1 miles to prep for your upcoming sprint to 70.3 distance race. The course starts from avenue “A” on the boardwalk and runs South to the telephone poll trail. Slightly uphill hill until you hit Via Las Vegas Rd and loop back down PV drive North to the start of the trail. Do two of these loops and back to “ave a” and you are 13.1miles done! ….do only 1 loop and back = 6miles. Go to the start of the looping trail head and back to “ave a” and you are 5K done!.
This ~8mi loop run is mostly on dirt trails rolling upwards towards the top of Valmonte before turning left onto the horse trails. From the horse trails and between neighborhoods you will wind your way back to the look out point at Butcher hill before running back down the telephone pole trail to the beach. This route is perfect for those looking to run on softer surfaces for the sake of injury prevention.
An epic, hilly run with Tristar Athletes high up above Palos Verdes running up Via Del Monte starting from the beach this long hike / run is on 50% trail and 50% road.
Ocean vistas through the neighborhoods of PV. Lots of elevation gain but nothing steeper than 10% grade. (~90min to 2.0hr ride)
